Emergency Disaster Services Program Specialist - This is an on-site position

Hiring Range - $2,517,23 - $3146.54 Bi-Weekly

Job Summary: The Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) position assists the National EDS Director in all aspects of emergency disaster services. This position serves as a resource to the field, raises awareness related to disaster services and serves as an advocate for the EDS field necessities; produces quarterly reports; monitors and analyzes monthly/quarterly reports for trends and formulates recommendations to administration; completes application processes for national public and private funding opportunities; serves as a member of planning committees as deemed appropriate; deploys to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Response Coordination Center (NRCC) when activated as a Salvation Army (SA) liaison for Mass Care (ESF 6). May be deployed to a disaster site. Researches, compiles, prepares and processes the National VOAD Bi-weekly Operational Report, FEMA VAL conference calls, and donor reports. Serves as an approved spokesperson and prepares briefs to various outlets on EDS matters. Serves as the point of contact for national disaster organizations. Coordinates territorial charitable shipping requests during all phases of a disaster and manages donated goods received through various organizations and the logistical movement when requested. Supports the coordination of the National Salvation Army Conferences with an EDS component, including set up of all conference calls, note taking, meeting facilities, badges, and other administration functions.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in emergency disaster management or related field with Salvation Army disaster training management (preferred) and two years’ experience working in the front-line emergency disaster services and first hand inter-agency collaboration; with two - three years’ experience working in the Public Policy, Communications or related fields. Demonstrated ability to lead meetings. Ability to articulate The Salvation Army’s policies and programs and to be able to interpret accurately the organizations’ critical impact upon American life and values. High proficiency in taking notes and compiling information into a report shared internally and externally. Knowledge of NGOs and disaster organizations including The American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, The United Way of America, and Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters. Web Design Intern- Remote or onsite position

Unpaid Internship - Must be receiving college credits - up to 20 hours per week

Job Summary: Intern will gain working experience and skills in maintaining a dynamic web presence for the Echelon initiative as part of the national community relations and development team at National Headquarters. This role includes both administrative and design support functions. This opportunity provides hands-on learning directly related to web design. The intern must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week during standard office hours, with the option to extend up to 20 hours per week based on the availability of the selected candidate. Manages and updates the national Echelon website and creates new websites for local Echelon chapters, working with the National Echelon Manager and the Director of Web Communications. Works with Echelon members and Salvation Army staff liaisons to gather content and data necessary for developing local chapter websites. Provides user support and technical assistance to local Echelon members and associated Salvation Army staff. Assists with the creation of website training resources that can be shared broadly with Echelon chapters. Multimedia & Digital Communications Intern - This is an on-site position

Unpaid Internship - Must be receiving college credits

Job Summary: The Multimedia & Digital Communications Intern (MDCI) assists in capturing and developing high standard multimedia content pieces, requiring a high degree of technical expertise and creativity. The position will assist with on-set productions in a variety of capacities, including managing professional video, photo, and audio equipment. The position also cuts and edits collected video footage until it meets the communications director’s approval, including rearranging and splicing scenes that have already been shot, and inserting music, sound, or optical effects. In addition, the MDCI assists in the publishing and distribution of all digital content on national Salvation Army digital media channels to effectively communicate the mission of The Salvation Army internally and externally. Works specifically to strengthen and enhance the image and awareness of The Salvation Army by identifying compelling stories and assists the development of weekly organizational and programmatic updates from The Salvation Army’s National Commander; supports the communications team during emergency response situations involving National Headquarters, Territorial and Divisional headquarters and other emergency responder agencies as may be involved. Aids with cinematography needs on all video productions in the department, both internal and external in nature. Visually interpret the story needs of the producers by imagining, visualizing and creating cinematic looks using our existing inventory of tools. Demonstrate an understanding of the “looks” created in order to keep productions feeling current and fresh. Keep abreast of current trends in production, with an understanding on how to achieve “looks” using lighting, cameras, and lensing. Assists in editing content pieces, including documentary and narrative videos of all types. Make informed creative decisions about cuts in order to preserve messaging of the piece. Take notes and direction from department and section heads. Ability to produce multiple edits from the same raw footage to meet needs of multiple audiences. Post-production work may include updating, uploading, and quality control of finished videos and website. Responsible for keeping track of (video/capture) cards, transferring footage into computer and ensure the footage is secure. Assist in digital transfer for media management, storage and transfer on hard drives to contracted editors. Uses photo and video to effectively communicate the mission of The Salvation Army internally and externally, and to achieve the three digital communications objectives of The Salvation Army National Headquarters: increase fundraising, build and protect The Salvation Army’s brand, and meet human needs. Assists in the planning, development, and implementation of the digital communications strategy and subsequent content that will appear on the national website and social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube. Monitors and measures The Salvation Army’s social media presence, analyzes content trends and relevant issues, and plans future content accordingly. Assists in maintaining consistent strategy and implementation of peer-to-peer fundraising opportunities on social media and coordinates these efforts with the NCRD digital fundraising team, NCRD communications team, and Agency of Record (AOR). Education and Experience: Applicants must be enrolled in their fourth year of a Multimedia, Video Production, or relevant Bachelor’s program, and must be receiving college credit. Awareness of film procedure, terminology and production. On-set production experience preferred. Working knowledge and proficiency in social media content and engagement strategies. Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel PowerPoint, OneDrive), Adobe Premiere Pro, Dropbox, and other postproduction or digital design software

Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Proficient in usage of all types of camera equipment, especially Sony mirrorless cameras. Proficient in usage of lighting for video production. Sr. Systems/Network Administrator - This is an on-site position

Hiring Range: $65,447.98 - $81,810.04 Annual

Job Summary: The Sr. Network Administrator is responsible for supporting The Salvation Army network (e.g., servers, routers, communications hardware and software, etc.), proactively addresses issues to eliminate problems, responding to and resolving trouble tickets and participating in planning design to improve the computing experience. Manages, maintains and supports the Microsoft Office 365 environment for National Headquarter. Supports and maintains LAN/WAN networks, is responsible for the daily activities of configuration and operation of systems, and performs administrator and support functions to ensure availability, functionality, security and performance. This position provides higher Services Desk support and is also responsible for supporting mobile devices including research, testing, troubleshooting and deployment as needed. Holds end user training sessions on applications such as Microsoft Office 365, Operating Systems, corporate e-mail systems, and New Employee Training. Serves as lead worker to other technical support staff by providing guidance and/or training in troubleshooting hardware and software problems. Develops and maintain system service log for tracking purposes. Performs network cabling in offices and in wiring closets as needed.

Knowledge and Experience: Associates Degree or 2-year technical certification is preferred and a minimum of five years’ experience performing computer software and hardware support involving inter-networking of wide area networks and server administration on local area networks.
Ability to perform both one-on-one and classroom training of various software applications. Ability to analyze and resolve advanced and complex problems with hardware and software independently and the ability to instruct others in doing the same. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy computer equipment (25-50 lbs.) on a frequent basis. Ability to stoop, crawl and climb when necessary.

Knowledge of network hardware to include router, firewall, switch, patch panels and concentrators. Working knowledge of major ISPs (Cox, Comcast, Verizon). Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and IBM Notes for Salvation Army use. Ability to ensure that Microsoft Office 365 and IBM Notes users receive the necessary technical support to perform their jobs. Ability to troubleshoot and maintain phone system. Ability to maintain mobile device equipment. Basic knowledge of the security of a computer system.
