Training programs require about 400 hours of study, while certificates may take a year and a half to three years to complete. Associate's degree programs usually require two years of study, although they also require you to complete general education classes along with your paramedic training. CERTIFIED NURSE ASSISTANT (CNA)

The Nurse Aide in Long-Term Care Facilities Program is a New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services approved training program which consists of 90 hours of training. The program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and the basic skills training (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, exercising and more), including the fundamentals of how to check and monitor vital signs and deal with a wide range of physical, emotional, social, health and illness needs of various individuals of different age and cultural background.

CERTIFIED MEDICATION AIDE (CMA)

Students must be certified in New Jersey as a Nurse Aide, Homemaker/Home Health Aide, or Personal Care Assistant. The Program focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to accurately measure, administer, and document medications in Assisted Living Facilities. Upon successful completion of both the training program and State certification Medication Aide Exam, students will be certified as a Medication Aide. Medication Aide can advance their careers by pursuing either an LPN or RN Nursing Degree.

CERTIFIED HOMEMAKER/HOME HEALTH AIDE (CHHA)

This program prepares students with the knowledge and skills needed to provide the highest quality of healthcare to homebound clients.

CNA to CHHA BRIDGE

PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN

This program introduces students to basic knowledge of Hematology/Circulatory system, Medical Terminology, Anatomy related to Phlebotomy, Infection Control. Students will effectively demonstrate the required skills to draw blood specimens by both venipuncture and capillary puncture to adult, pediatric and other non-blood specimens’ collection such as throat, and urine cultures for analysis from patients in Hospitals, Blood Donor Centers, Physician offices and similar facilities. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a completion certificate by the school and will be able to take the National Certification exam through the National Health Career Association.

ELECTROCARDIOGRAM TECHNICIAN (EKG)

This program provides students with a basic overview of the Cardiac system, Medical disease process, Terminology. Students will learn how to operate a 12 lead EKG machine and interpret the readings including identification of signs of advanced heart diseases and also the interpretation of all arrhythmias. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a completion certificate by the school and will be able to take the EKG Technician exam by the National Health Career Association.

PHLEBOTOMY/EKG COMBO

CPR/First Aid

CPR (adult, child, and infant) and First Aid certification training for health care provider. The training course follows the latest American Heart Association guidelines and is nationally accredited and accepted. The training will cover emergency and potentially life-saving skills for new healthcare providers and experienced healthcare providers looking to renew their certification.

Creighton University’s Critical Care Paramedic course will prepare you to deliver outstanding advanced critical care when moving patients from one health care facility to another via ground or air ambulance or when responding directly to the scene of a medical or trauma event. You will learn from experienced critical care providers who will teach you how to perform patient assessments and provide invasive out-of-hospital care. You will receive instruction in both classroom and clinical settings. The course is also available online, however, you must attend the two-day on-campus invasive skills session and complete a clinical internship.

  • Thoracostomy and chest drainage maintenance

Hands-On Training

You will put into practice what you have learned in the classroom through a required two-day, on-campus invasive skills session. You will also be required to complete 36 hours of clinical rotation in an ICU/CCU setting. Creighton is committed to helping you gain access to clinical opportunities that are as convenient as possible. Requirements

To enroll in Creighton’s Critical Care Paramedic course, you must be a current paramedic or registered nurse; Healthcare Provider BLS and ACLS; and, minimum of one year of experience as a paramedic or nurse. Trauma course completion (PHTLS, ITLS, TNCC or TNATC), pediatric course completion (PALS, NRP, PEPP, PPC, or ENPC), and a medical life support course (AMLS) are all strongly recommended.

  • Copy of paramedic course transcripts
  • Copy of paramedic certification/licensure from all jurisdictions
  • Copy of ACLS and BLS certificates (required) and PHTLS or ITLS, AMLS, PALS or PEPP (as applicable)
  • Copy of driver’s license or other government-issued photo ID
  • Resume
  • Contact information for three references

Outcomes

When you successfully complete the Critical Care Paramedic course, you will receive a certificate of completion along with 108 hours of continuing education credit. You will also be prepared for the Certified Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C®) and Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C®) Exams administered by the International Board of Specialty Certifications (IBSC), formerly the Board for Critical Care Transport Paramedic Certification (BCCTPC®).

Please Note: The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services does not recognize or credential critical care paramedics. Individual states may offer an endorsement to function as a critical care paramedic. One option to formal credentialing is the certified critical care paramedic exam or certified flight paramedic exam both administered by the International Board of Specialty Certifications (IBSC). Creighton faculty and staff will work with states and regulatory agencies that do recognize CCP for them to recognize our course and to contact us with questions.
